Default Phal is dying, how can I save it?

Hello,
Recently I bought phal in bloom from walmart. I was watering it the same way as my other phals. I noticed two bottom leaves shrivelling so I decided to take it out of the pot to check the roots even though it is still blooming. I discovered that most of the roots are dead and coming off. Please see the picture of what left from the roots. Can it be saved? Please help.
Thanks a lot.

I would repot in good med. bark mixture. I have had them worse and they have made it. But, I have lost some too. Repot and hope for the best. Be very careful not to overwater.
Good Luck, Becky

Thank you Becky. Do you think I should cut off the flower stem and put the plastic bag over the plant?
Thanks again.

I would cut the spike back to about an inch. Also, plant it in the smallest pot with lots of drain holes that you can find. Be careful with that one root. It is still green so that is a good sign. the others look like air roots to me.

Looks like you can save it, plant in bark chip that you have presoaked. Just cover the main root leave the air roots out of the bark. Water carefully. I set
the pot in a dish of water and let it wick up the water rather than top watering when it's this small, and almost rootless.
