???

Why the sudden interest in my plants?

It almost sounds like you're demanding me to post photos.

If it's not a demand, it's not a very welcoming or warm request.

In fact, I somehow detect a little hostility with each progressive post.

I think that's very rude.

I don't respond to rudeness, particularly when I've answered your questions or concerns for nothing in return.

I'm sorry I didn't mean for it to sound that way. I am just really interested to see what your plants look like. Again I am very sorry that it sounded like that to you. I really do appreciate all the help that you have given me. I do realize that you are a senior member which means you know more about orchids than a 15 year old. In all regret I would love to see pictures of your plants to see how you keep them and what I could do differently to help mine live.
Thanks Chris

Okay...

I understand your concern for your plants.

I accept the apology.

Respecting others is a big deal. The golden rule being to treat others how you would like to be treated.

I know no one's perfect, but remembering this and sticking to this principal can often lead to good relationships with others.

Just as a note. The connotation of senior member on the OB is related to how many posts a person has made. It doesn't necessarily have a bearing on a person's actual growing experience. If you want to know if the person has extensive experience, pay attention to what kinds of orchids they can grow. How long they can grow them for. Try out the advice and see if by replicating what they've told you that you are able to succeed as well. After all, part of science is being able to replicate lab procedures and produce the same or similar results.

It is currently raining here, and the lighting inside the house is rather poor. I'm busy in the upcoming couple of days, so I may not be able to post pics soon. When I do, I will post pics of 2 of the 8 plants, as these are the best looking ones of the bunch.

Here are the pics as promised.

I even magnified a portion of one of the Schoenorchis to show you new root growth that is completely different from the roots growing in the flask.

Notice how the roots that have been growing in the flask taper towards the tip to a point. The new root that has been growing outside of the flask look more robust and are more reminiscent of thick Vanda roots or Phalaenopsis roots.

I forgot, but I believe it's somewhere around late spring and early summer.

Wow your plants are a lot different looking than mine. It looks as if yours are growing upright instead of up the plant pike in my picture. Did you make it grow this way? I also took your advice and removed the moss that was around the plant and I'm glad I did. Most of the roots in the middle were dead. There were only a few live roots a d they were the roots I could see. I replaced the moss with fresh but used a lot less but if I see the health of the plant decline I will remove the moss all together. The only reason I put moss on was because my room is dry and I don't want the roots to dry out. How do you keep your roots from drying out? Thanks for the help and advice.

At first I watered anywhere around 2 to 3 times during the day, then I slowly decreased the amount of times I watered (remember, they're seedlings from flask, and a flask has near 100% humidity at all times - I gotta wean them out of that environment).

Now I just water everyday or 3 to 4 times a week.

Mine are placed like that because of how the roots were arranged.

Your plant should bloom easily by next year.

So you grow without any moss whatsoever? I remounted mine because when I took the moss off the plant fell off of the stick so I found a new stick, sterilized it, and remounted it. The plant itself is above the moss this time, but some of the roots(dead) are in the moss to help keep it in place. It is not down in the moss like it was. I also just got a schoenorchis pachyacris which I had to mount because I got it out of a compot that A friend game me. The roots are not long at all so hopefully they will grow pretty fast and the plant will attach itself to the piece of wood. I would greatly appreciate any more advice that you have for the fragrans or the pachyacris. Thanks.

I got no other piece of advice. Both of them would be grown the same way.

Yeah, I don't use moss, and it works just fine. But I don't know how dry your growing area is, 'cause I don't know where you are and what it's like there.

Well I live in Northern Virginia and during the night the temps. can drop into the 20's, so I have a space heater because my room is huge, but by mornng the moss is completly dried out so I water it again. It stays moist throughout the day. Do you think this will hurt anything? I will try to post pics tomorrow of the newly remounted fragrans and pachyacris. Thanks.
