flasked to trashed
I lost my sympathy for plants like that as Ive had so many of my own...
Toss that crap out and go get another one and be done with it...you got ya 15 bucks out of it long ago.
In my own little private world of pain, plants like that are depressing for me to keep around. They Cause me to question myself as to why am I even doing this to begin with(I still cant answer that one FYI), how did it get like that, where did this come from and whats the end result..while thats good to search for those answers when you have a plant buddy tragedy and find out & learn why it happened...I think we all go thru that same routine..After that, it Doesnt do me any good to keep looking at it and I just want em gone as I dont have enuff room in my small home for a plant I.C.U unit..

Update
Sad day.
The girls (my two cats) apparently knocked the container the phal was in off of it's shelf during their rumpus last night, and the crown was broken off.
This is my first really big loss, so I'm taking extra special care of the orchids I still have in the hopes that this won't happen again. I'm glad I have some in bloom right now to cheer me up.
p.s.- taida orchids hasn't replied, and neither have some other vendors I've found that have this orchid. I'm still going to keep squeaking my wheel though.

I would have given up but let us know how it goes. Persistence might pay off.

By doing a little research, I found this Phal for sale. Remembering that this guy is mis-labeled quite a bit as amabilis var formosum, I searched on the Meyers website.
Though he doesn't have any right now, check out the standing seedling request.
ESTABLISHED SEEDLINGS of these are not currently available, but we have some maturing in the greenhouse and expect to offer them in the future. There are 4 items with 1 plant per item that will be considered for sale later.
You might consider placing a standing request if you are willing to commit to purchasing them (within limits that you specify) so that you can obtain them before they are publicly offered.
Standing Request for TN6528 Phalaenopsis amabilis var. formosanum 'MC4885' × 'FANGtastic 4N'
https://lab.troymeyers.com/flasking/...lant&id=TN6528
Obviously this doesn't take away your immediate pain but at least you might be able to replace your phal with one that won't cost an arm and a leg.
Now if you want to spend an arm and a leg, Big Leaf has one for $350 which is mature and in bud. Good luck.

I'm going through almost the same thing with one of my Phals. Mine rotted into the crown and rotted 90% of the roots. It was in full bloom when I bought it and so I didn't want to disturb it to re-pot. Before those flowers even finished falling, I had another spike shooting out to the side and already budding so I waited even longer to re-pot with those new flowers coming. It was 7 months from the time I bought it before I re-potted. At the point, I had to choice. The once beautiful leaves all started sagging and turning soggy like they were water logged, and I knew something was wrong. I still had flowers on it at this point. So I had to make a choice to re-pot it with flowers or wait it out. I re-potted and that's when I found the rot. Who knows how long it was in the pot before I bought it, but they had it so tightly packed in all that Sphagnum Moss that it rotted all but 4 roots and it spread into the crown. I'm still trying to get it back going. The leaves are still heavy and are right, but I see new roots. And a few days ago a new leaf has spouted from the top. I know its going to be a long road. I had never heard of using cinnamon on a plant before. However, my grandmother has told me when you trim away your dead and rotted roots, make sure you dip your scissors or whatever tool you use in bleach water, and whatever pot your going to use in bleach water as well. She says orchids are very easily taken by disease and you need to make your tools and pots sterile then re-potting and such.
I hope your plant is doing well.

...one other minor point on this:
It is bad Feng Shui to have dead and dying plants around

MY HERO!!!
Apparently chivalry is not entirely dead yet.
A good friend of mine (ex from High School) saw me mourning my favorite species on facebook last week. He is a Cav Scout currently on his second tour in Kandahar.
What should arrive in my mail on tuesday, but a large box from Norman's containing.....
Norman's Optimal Orchid Nutrients - 1lb
Book- AOS Guide to Growing Orchids
annnndddddd
Phal aphrodite var. formosanum (aphrodite 'Chjain Xen' x aphrodite 'Los Robles')
with her friend,
Phal. amabilis var. compactum (amabilis 'Tying Shin' x amabilis 'Mini Pearl' - IN FULL BLOOM ON TWO SPIKES!!!!
I could hardly keep from crying. It's a good thing my mom was there to help me unpack.
I really needed this. I've been in the dumps lately from more than just killing my treasured orchid- I've been sick, stressed out- I have 9 concerts this week and next week, and two papers due next week....and this really lifted me up.
So, just thought I'd let you guys know that boundless generosity is still out there.
