I've had a large collection of orchids for a while now, but sometimes I'm not sure I'm watering them thoroughly. I run them under the faucet for about 10 seconds, only this long because my pots are small. However, most times it's hard to tell if the medium is getting wet enough all the way through (esp with bark- i can tell with moss). I didn't think it's ok to sit them in water so that they can feed from the bottom because the roots will be in contact with water for longer. But as long as I leave them to drain on saucers afterwards it seem like it would be ok. However, it seems then the water would reach all of the medium and might be more effective. Can anyone tell me the correct way to water? Thanks.
