Ya, I get a big kick out of Floridians calling American Roaches anything but. I guess it is from the northeners who have migrated to live in Florida and think that having roaches means you are dirty or a poor housekeeper.
However, I have never seen an American Roach eating my plants. Not saying they wouldn't though.

Oh, I am originally from the east, raised in the north.

The roaches I saw in Fl. make the ones here look like wimps .
We call them wood roaches , they will hang out in moist pots with bark in it and eat root tips ..

I grew up in the UK and we were always told that if you had cockroaches it was because the house was dirty. Here in Australia that doesn't apply at all, you'll get them even if your house is like a palace. I hate them, they look evil, I don't like killing anything but I'll drown a cockroach in pest spray! Urrggghhh! LOL

No, not impossible (because it is indeed possible). The point being made was only that there are other, more likely culprits.

So I gather, Marion, that you'd be in no great hurry to see pics of my Madagascar hissing cockroaches?

Here in Texas (where there is an obsession with BIG) there is actually an annual contest for the biggest cockroach. Of course, the Madagascar hisser is much larger. Now them's big dudes.
