Phal crown Rot? - Orchid Board

I have had this phalenopsis for about two months now, and am just starting to notice that the crown is turning black. two leaves have already fallen off, but I thought that it was just shedding them to prepare to make a new one, but obviously not. Is this crown rot? What should I do, and is it too late to save it? Please help. Thanks ahead in advance.

The most common practice here is to pour some Hydrogen Peroxide into the crown, and blow it out after a few minutes.

Scoot that moss away from the crown to give it some room to breathe, and if possible, don't plant it as deep or have media up that high.

If the leaves are dropping from the lower part of the plant I don't know if that's crown rot - but you may have some rot going just the same -
I'd unpot the plant to see what's going on down there. It's possible that there has been too much moisture in the leaf axis' ...

This is the same process as crown rot except from the bottom up.
Treat with Hydrogen peroxide.
I do not see any arial roots above the black area...this is not good

As said above, Crown Rot starts from the top, where this is starting at the bottom. Still rot I think.

Pouring peroxide in the crown won't help as it's not rotting in the crown, but you should try and treat with peroxide in the affected area. That can be difficult as there is no natural way for it to collect and it just runs off in my experience.

As D has said, the lack of roots above the rot may be a bad sign because it will be difficult for it to establish again without those. I would still advise getting it out the pot and seeing what is going on down below.

i would remove everything on it... and use ray's tip... and let it dry for 7 days! well depends on your area! they wont die trust me... i've made my phals suffer more than not feeding them for a week! i tried keeping them under a cabinet and stuffed them in my luggage so airport customs wont find my phals in my luggage when i get back home!
