How much water needed? Male
Default How much water needed?

I am experimenting to one of my phals and moved it to LECA in a regular transparent plastic pot with holes in the bottom. My phals is growing outside with enough light and good air circulation. It's been 3 days since I made the transferring and there is still the condensation in the plastic pot (3 days after my first watering). Does it mean I should not water the plant since there is some moisture in the pot?

Also, I noticed the the top of the LECA is dry but almost 3/4 parts of it has some moisture..I heard that in LECA you can't over water but I'm afraid continues moisture in the Phal roots will also cause rot that's why I was thinking to wait until the LECA is close to dryness before my next watering..

Your opinions and suggestions are highly appreciated.

I have a Phalaenopsis potted in LECA (non S/H).

It always has condensation in the pot and the top 1/3 of the LECA is dry. I just water it when I water everything else. Sometimes every 3 days since it's been quite warm and dry. It seems to like all the water I can give it.

No sign of rot. It drains so fast I don't see how it could have any.

Hi Maureen, Well I think I have to water every 4 to 5 days because I pull off some LECA in the middle of the pot just to see if there's some moisture and I think the moisture will last in another day or two. I will see tomorrow if the condensation will subside and if not, i think every 5 days is just fine

Thank you for sharing your growing experience...
