mine are potted in chc - they were outside last winter - protected on the nights temps were in 30s - daytime temps here in winter are mostly in the 50s. My largest one, a noid, looks a bit worse - tho I think it's mostly due to inconsistent watering over winter. Had some rot, as well as pleated foliage *sigh*. And no spikes so far this year, so might not do that again, if I can find room inside for them.
I have a no i.d. from Trader Joes
bloomed wonderfully for me last year - no spikes this year so far tho
I also have Dawn West 'Wild Wild West' and Robert Jackson 'Wild Thing' which appears to be rotting, and I don't know why *sigh* - these are both rather small plants I got at Trader Joe's last year.
So - while the plants didn't die from being outside last winter, - think I'll not do that again - they certainly aren't thriving ...
As to watering - I have skewers in the pots and try to make sure they don't dry out. Can take a good deal of water in hot dry months. Having trouble with the winter watering tho. The big one gets water 2-4xs a week depending on weather in summer. The smaller ones seem to dry very slowly - they are over-potted - so don't need as frequent water. And now that I am posting this - think I will go pot those smaller ones into smaller pots - see if that helps them lol
