mini phal
i didn't realize their was such a thing as mini phals when i bought my first 2 orchids which stand about 6-8inches tall counting the flower spike. I just assumed they was baby phals and bought them cuz i could get 2 for the price of the bigger ones at the nursery.
So now i was just wondering how big do mini phals get? will the flowers always be the same size as they are now, about the size of a quarter. I can't find much info on them so anything will be helpful. I did find that supposly they will have more blooms than bigger phals do, is this true? Mine had about 6 blooms on one and 4 blooms on the other, with a couple blooms lost i now have 3 blooms on one and 4 blooms on the other.

You won't find much about them because there isn't much to say. They have the same care as regular phals, its just that they're small. It is true that they like to branch-- at least mine do, which is nice because they look like a bunch of butterflies have taken over the plant. The size of the plants themselves can vary. I have a mini that is sizable though it keeps many spikes and branches off those spikes, it still remains smaller in general than my other, non-mini phals. Post a pic for us to see the flowers.

No idea, I have a mini phal but don't know if it will get bigger. I would think that it would be
more flowers on te bigger plant than the smaller plant, assuming they are both the same type. But I may be wrong
Bump!

where did you get them? i got my mini: phal. Tiny Fox, at weiss market. it was in the same container and had the same tag as i see on yours.
by the way, if yours is in the same pot as mine, it has no hole in the bottom of the outer pot, so be careful.

Yes, you're right on this-- but its been my experience so far that all of mine have branched a lot. So I made a generalization for my collection, at least. Looove branching!

I have a mini phal at work - it too is a brancher. I had the same question when I bought it and the grower at the nursery said that it would always more or less maintain a similar leaf span. Some leaves might be nominally smaller or larger but it would never grow into a full sized phal.
So far she's been right. The mini has put out quite a number of leaves and they are all ever so slightly bigger than the preceding leaves.
Hope this helps.
