I agree! Most orchids - at least most of the types i have, repotting doesn't bother them at all. So when in doubt about how old the media is, how the roots are, etc, it never hurts. Better safe than sorry. And repotting doesn't necessarily mean a bigger pot - especially with new plants - I frequently put them back in the same pot, but with fresh media. However, if your plant is doing well, and you know the media isn't too old- you don't need to repot after each blooming. I generally like to repot plants in bark every 2 years. Except paphs which I have been told should get fresh media annually, and cyms which seem to be ok at least 3 years.
If your plant is quite crowded in the current size pot it has, go up just to a slightly larger pot.
