First Time Orchid owner
I received my first Orchid last month. I have it at work on my desk so it gets indirect light plus artificial light. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. I read the tag attached so I know it does not need a lot of water. It says it's potted in moss, is that OK? Once it got dry I watered it sparingly. It has now been almost a month since I got it and the blooms are just now starting to die. I pulled off the ones that were gone. Any help or more detailed instructions for care would be most appreciated. I do not have much luck with plants so would really like to get this to survive and bloom as often as possible. Thanks, Linda

Linda
To help you and your plant, we need to know what type of orchid it is. It would be best if it has a tag giving you this information. If no tag as this information on it, can you post a photo?

Sorry, forgot to mention the type of Orchid. It is a Brother Yellow Boy. Extremely beautiful, has three stalks and each had 3-5 blooms. I'm not concerned that the blooms are dying as they have been on for a while, just want to be sure I do what I need to do to keep it alive and healthy.

Linda, Welcome to OB!
Since we suspect this is a Phalaenopsis. Here is a link to a culture sheet for it. If you have any questions please ask. And I do mean any questions.

one thing about watering....altho you dont water it frequently, no more than once a week or ten days, you should water it copiously! orchids love to be drenched thoroughly but infrequently....i am afraid by watering it 'sparingly' every week you will have problems with underwatering it.....also, what is the medium it is planted in? if it is in moss, you need to be careful not to overwater....much better to have it in bark....give us a little more information or some photos please!
