New branches on old blooms. Male
Default New branches on old blooms.

On my Phal, I have 2 spikes, one already dropped all its flowers, the other is still holding on to all 7 flowers, I bought this plant about 6 to 7 weeks ago, I have no idea how long it was in bloom before I got it, I cut the one back to the 1st node and right away the 2nd branch started, my questions is, should I let these go and it blooms again, your talking a very long bloom period, what about plant resting time and root and leaf growth? should a 2nd bloom on a tired plant still in bloom be allowed?

It's really up to you. I usually leave them but many people say to cut the spike off so the plant can concentrate on growing and they say the next blooms will be better. I don't see any difference either way. Good luck with what ever you do..

If it's already starting another set of blooms, I would go with it. If it were me, I would keep fertilizing it and enjoy the show!

I guess the I's have it, I will let it play out, guess I will learn something from this, see if it blooms and how strong they are, compared to the Phals that I cut the spikes off. Thanks!!
