Default Scrawney plant, pots of flowers

I bought this beauty from Whole Foods last week. I love the pink flowers and needed a good centerpiece for my dining room table. The plan seems small to me, has only 4 pseudobulbs, 2 of which seem small, but it has 2 large spikes with lots of flowers. So I am curious how the nurseries get such small plants to bloom. Do they divide larger plants before shipping them or so they give young plants tons of fertilizer?

Some plants are more prone than others to put out large displays. Combine that with the growers optimum care and conditions and you have a wonderful display.
