Default Moisture retention

Which holds more water, bark or CHC? Assuming equal size and conditions of course.

CHC holds water far longer than fir bark in my growing condtions. It tends to be a bit spongier than bark.

chc - and as Terri mentioned, it is spongy - you can squeeze a moist chip and water will actually exude from it lol
and due to it's 'spongy' nature, it is also airier than bark
chc also decomposes more slowly

You REALLY need to rinse it well, really well, before using, and you also should flush with just water every third or fourth watering. It holds fertilizer salts very well also.
