Bud blast..Potinara Red Crab

Hi again,
I have another question. When I lost my two new buds (within 2-3 days after purchasing it), turned black and eventually scrivelled up and dropped off... I was wondering if I should cut the black stem from the bud right back to where it came out of the leaf? or just leave it alone?
