That may be a question better answered by the people on this forum from the colder parts of the northern hemisphere who are forced to grow these plants indoors. I suspect they probably will grow OK indoors if you give them enough light. The indoor growers on this and other forums seem to be able to keep kingianum alive. They can struggle to get them to flower but you've probably got a couple of years before either plant would think about flowering so that may not be a priority for you.

Thank you very much. I've put them on seedling trays so it won't be a hassle taking them out of the terrarium. I'll check them for the next week or two and see if they need more light.

Sarcochilus might be a better way to go for my set up!

Thank you everyone!

Sarcochilus is grown much the same way as your two Dendrobiums.

They're mostly lithophytic. I guess, they can also take being grown epiphytically.

They don't like to be too wet.

Moderate to bright light.

Puts on a nice display when they're in bloom.

From what I understand, you guys have lots to choose from. There're quite a few vendors in Australia selling these.

At least one vendor visits the US to attend the shows here. He sells Den speciosums, Den kingianums, and Sarcochilus.

Are there species of these that are endemic to Australia? My interests are with Australian species.

I will post updates in a couple of weeks on the two seedlings for future references.

Pleuro's aren't Australian. There are a few Australian jewel orchids. Burleigh Park sell a few jewels and might be worth contacting to see if the carry any others.

Since you mentioned Sarcs, these are also cool growers so I don't know how well they'd perform in a terrarium. Sarc intergenerics using tropical genera do tend to be more heat tolerant so they may be better condidates for a terrarium situation. AON sell a few Sartylis which may or may not be of interest (they're only half native). Of those Wayne lists, my Sartylis Toowoomba Sparkle has stayed compact for several years. I haven't had my Sartylis Blue Knob for long enough to comment on it's eventual size although the photo on the AON site suggests in could get a bit tall for a terrarium. If you want 100% Australians you can occasionally find Sarconopsis that have been bred using Phal rosenstromii. The eventual size of the spike may be a problem but you could try Phal rosenstromii with in a terrarium with enough air movement.
