Default Dendro in need of new potting mix

Hi! I just got a really healthy! looking dendro from HD for $12!!! the problem is the mix looks really degraded. There is one flower spike and one fresh looking shoot (see pictures). Any suggestions on when i should repot it? I thought maybe to wait a little until the new shoot is a tad stronger looking?
here are the pictures

When you say degraded, does it smell musty and what kind medium is it? Chance are if you repot while it's in bloom you may lose the buds and then again you may not. It's happened to me both ways. I'm sure you'll get more opinions so don't just yet "jump the gun."

an update from the impatient: i repotted the thing today, turned out it was in some nastiness like coir? but the roots looked ok (strangely enough) and ... i had two plants! both with new canes? yippie!!!!
now i just hope they don't sulk too much and aren't too overpotted.
