Hello, I have a dendrobium (Isle x SuperStar) that has been outside all summer long. I just gave me 5 blooms, but I know there are a LOT more to come around January/February. Last year it gave me at least 40 blooms.
Last summer I kept it indoors. but I was told that I should have it outside during the summer and I would have even more blooms.
So I did. It has been out there since May. The plant looks significantly healthier and the few blooms I just got are much larger than they were last year.
Right now where I live we're having highs in the high 60's and lows in the low 50's. When should I bring it indoors?
I know I'm supposed to stop watering it, but if it rains, it'll get watered because there is no covering in my back yard.
It's like that your plants is Den (Ise x Super Star) = Den. Super Ise. (There is no registered hybrid, Den. Isle.)
I suggest letting it get no colder than the mid-50°s.
It has a quite a bit of Dendrobium nobile in its background, so does need a rest, but the key is a rest from nutrition (particularly nitrogen), not water, per se.
It's a beauty, by the way, and I'm not a fan of dens!
