ok. sounds fun. i also forgot to mention earlier that it has many white healthy roots all over the place. shal i just put them under the potting. and what kind of potting should i use for this plant
If you are going to divide the plant (as in "maybe your friend will give you a piece"), I recommend a minimum of 3 old growths and one new one per division.
Just grab the clusters and pull 'em apart - chances are that once unpotted, you'll see some natural separating places anyway.
Hard to say, the pictures are still too small to see the detail needed but, I can see 2 pseudobulbs that might feel soft and mushy (the brown ones). If they are brown and mushy (not reddish from a lot of light) these have to be removed.
Also, seems to me this plant is overpotted, in other words to pot is to large for the amount of pseudobulbs. I don't think this plant should be divided, especially because you probably have 2 bad pseudobulbs that you have to remove.
Depending on the climate where you live, you might want to use another substrate. If I'm right it's potted in 100% sphagnum moss right now and a lot of people have problems not to over water using moss. Medium (presoaked) bark from pine with or without some smaller pieces of moss, might be the way to go for this plant.
You want to water it heavily, but the medium should never allowed to be soggy and should dry fast, otherwise you end up with rotted roots and with rotted pseudobulbs.
