repotting Onc may have been a mistake... help

I just got a howards dream about a week ago. I took it home and noticed that the plant was potted in moss and had bark on the top (like they were hiding the potting medium) I know that I would end up over watering it and even though the moss was in great shape i decided to repot. I took a 50/50 mixture of bark and moss, checked over the roots (I was impressed) and since it was dripping wet when i got it i let it dry our for about an hr or so and repotted it. After repotting it i waited a couple days before soaking it in just water and b1. I have been keeping my eye on it and the bulbs dont seem as plump as they were. Could it be cause i switched from moss to moss/bark and its more open now? I have been keeping close eye on the moisture in the medium and it takes a while to dry out. I soaked it again last night. My question is... will the bulbs plump up again? and should I not have repotted it? I was gentle and the root damage was very minimal
