It seems to be warming up in Southern Fla., only going into the low 40's tonight. I'm bringing all my orchids back out tomorrow.....I can't stand this anymore. I personally like the cool weather but as a caregiver, I've got others to consider here.

I'm taking my chids back out tomorrow (1/23). They say near 40-45 tonight, then around 50+ tomorrow night.
Tough love for the chids. I LOVE YA, BUT GET OUTTA THE HOUSE!

It's over, folks!!!

The last of the very cold nights was last night...looking at 68 for a high today. All the "regular" plants go back to their usual places and the vandas are going back out to the pool area (though they will probably get moved back and forth between now and spring)

I will unwrap my shade house tomorrow and water everyone. I sure hope I don't find any damaged chids! This is definitely the coldest weather that they have ever experienced, but like Swamper, I wanted to see if it could be done. Wish me luck!

Default It's over, YEAH.

Glad that's over. Everyone's chids make it through OK? No casualties here, although I was so focused on the chids in the back I forgot about the stuff out front and have a little damage from the first night to now content with.

I'm SO glad I decided to give the vandas another day/night in their room before moving them outside...I woke up to 38 degrees again!!! Just checked Weather Underground and they say one more cooler night...the vandas are staying where they are!

The ones I left outside seem to be ok Susan but it usually takes a few days to see results of damage. The one vanda on the tree that was blooming still seems to be doing ok. Ill keep you posted.

I think your chids will be fine

Mine were all in their nice toasty room so my complaints about the cold are really about ME, not them!

Default Cold Floridians

That's not bad. My heart bleeds for you as I sit in the sunroom admiring my orchid collection as the sun gleams off of the 2 feet of snow and the wind howls out of the Northwest at 20 miles per hour. I would trade places with you anytime. Stay warm.
