Default split phal leaves

I recently bought a big purple phal NOID with giant blooms but a couple of leaves have split ends. Like 1" splits. I read about taping them together on the underside of the leaf. Anyone have any other suggestions? What causes this? Thanks, Chris

hehehehehe, just another use for duct tape! Is it really necessary to tape the leaves though? As far as how it happened could be from it being bumped into something. Got any pictures?

This is how I bought it so I dont know but it dosn't look like it was from being bumped or anything. I just dont want it to get any worse so I guess I'll get some tape if thats my only option.

I've taped leaves also, both sides, but used Scotch Magic Mend. Because it's clear, it looks better than duct tape!

I didn't know we were on the Red Green show here. Duct tape to fix orchid leaves - that's the best I've heard in a long time!

LOL... if you cant duct it ... F#@k it!!! Duct tape can be used for all sorts of things. I made a flower pot out of duct tape when i was tree planting cause i found a lady slipper that i wanted to try to bring home.

My understanding is that they can do this if the leaf is actively growing and doesn't get quite enough water for a period. However, it's nothing to worry about. And I don't bother taping it.
