you should try trader joes- they are cheaper and in great condition! unfortunately, most of them aren't named, but what's in a name?

Is there a way you could join the local society? Maybe attend some meetings. It would be a great way to learn, ask experienced growers about your plants (actually take them to the meeting) and meet some of the local small growers that would be a reliable source for good orchids.

well, i go to the one on wilmot and speedway, across from Bookmans. There is another one on Grant and Swan. I have also seen one on North Campbell. and the tucson orchid society meets every 3rd wednesday from 730-9 pm. its on north alvernon past grant. Tucson Orchid Society - Homepage

Hi Wrebbit! Here's what I have set up at my house. It's a fairly recent picture though I'm embarassed to say it's even more jam packed now! Ross and I both use supplemental lighting which I have found makes all the difference in the world to successfully growing chids. I wasn't blooming anything until I added lighting.

I agree with Paul that your experience will be far less frustrating if you start with healthy plants. You need to be able to recognize when you need to repot, when to water etc. All of this can be confusing because the different genre like such different things. I try and group plants that like similar lighting, watering, and size together. Not always possible but it does help keep confusion to a minimum.

I'll go check out your other threads and see what you're growing.
