Paul,
I have tried E-bay. will not do that again. Smaller growers who advertised in AOS journal...not great; shows-generally good experience; Hauserman...very good; local growers...very good. I plan to stick with major on-line providers, locals, and major growers at shows in the future.
Nick

i totally understand the school thing. i am taking 6 classes and working. i am actually supposed to be writing a paper right now but i needed a break.

you'll be fine. i killed a bunch of orchids when i first began. not exactly a cheap hobby to be killing all of the time, but i learned a lot. it was frustrating, but it has become very rewarding.

OOPS, sorry nick, I meant to ask Wrebbitrocks where he had bought his orchids. I hadn't had my morning coffee yet .........anyhoo, my thought was if he was picking them up from box stores that maybe half his frustration was coming from getting plants that were set up for failure. Maybe trying a good local grower who can give you some pointers for growing in your area as well as supply you with a good healthy plant.

I agree with that. Sometimes the big box orchids are doomed to die no matter what. I'm no novice to orchids, and I have lost a few orchids from big box stores in the beginning. The roots were in bad shape, I just didn't know it. I still get plants from those places, but I'm much more wary, and inpect the plants thoroughly before buying. I find that there's much less problems getting orchids from professional growers, and they are always there to give advice when something goes wrong.
