Splitting Phalaenopsis orchids
Hi everyone
I am super new to both this site and the world of orchids and I would like to know if it is possible to split this orchid and if so how I would go about doing this.
Thanks

Welcome to the board.
If you have one fan of leaves, no, it's not possible. If there are several (or a couple) plants in one pot, yes it is. Just repot and pull them apart. Some people get little babies forming on flower spikes. Once roots get a few CM long these plants can be carefully removed and potted up as new plants.

I agree with Ross, phals cannot be "split" unless you have a basal/spike keiki, perhaps a couple pics could help to see the current status of your phal
Happy Growing!

I've attached a picture of the bottom of my plant. It looks to me like there are 2 fans of leaves and 2 plants in one. Thanks for the help

That is a single plant with two spikes. The leaves look a bit wilted indicating not enough water or too much water (rotted roots)

I only see one set of leaves .. but 2 spikes which should be coming out of the same plant .. you can't split it .. Well you can .. but it won't last very long

Yep, just one plant there. The medium it is in looks pretty dry, so I'm guessing that's why the leaves look a bit wrinkly. Also, the medium looks a bit on the broken down side, so I'd guess she's been in this pot for a good while, maybe in need of repotting.

Repotting? I can just get repotting stuff from the florist hey? I wish he'd told me this when I bought it. I'm not so clever with this stuff...

In terms of potting, I would highly recommend that you find an orchid specialty store / nursery and ask them if you can bring in your orchid and get some assistance repotting. You will learn a lot more if you see someone else do it and they will also have better supplies.
