Default Solar film for windows instead of curtains

Hello,

I have a quick question: any of you ver tried the solar film for windows to lower down the intensity of light?
Are they good just like a curtain?

I've seen some films which even change of intensity accordingly to the light (to block more light when the light is stronger). Most of them also block over 90% of IR and UV, could that be an issue?

My issue is that I have some big windows and my wife doesn't want to block the whole view with curtains everywhere for my plants...!

I had asked a similar question back in 2017 I believe.
Here is a link: Use of solar films and plant growth

Hope this sheds some light on the subject, no pun intended.

Thank you, I've read the thread!
I don't have any heat problem, during the winter quite the opposite actually, so I would be looking, if it exists, for some film that will block light in the visible spectrum and less in the UV - IR areas.

I'll ask for some samples and measure the light passing through with a spectrophotometer to check the spectrum.

My question was more about the direct light rays, as they will indeed pass through but they will have less energy. At this point I guess that wouldn't be a problem.

Thank you!
