Not sure if you’re familiar with US geography but states in the US southwest have very high light levels in winter compared to locations further north, and we stay much warmer overall. It was over 90F/32C at my house for the last two days. That’s unusual but not unheard of for April.

for sure, i agree completely about differing conditions. certainly, 80% humidity in texas made me wonder if this was a greenhouse or terrarium situation? also, transitioning to bark is our usual phal procedure, and soaking the new media for a good 24 hours pre-potting i would think, even in a hot place, watering every other day or two after would be sufficient. has the op responded about what the roots look like? i also didn't see how long ago they were repotted? just curious, i should go back and read again! hahah!!

definitely not trying to argue here, it just always boggles my mind how different everyones growing experiences are!

also, we r now seeing the effects of a colder winter. most of our phals have rebounded very well, but a couple of groups of species, namely micholtzii, parishii, and mannii have really suffered. but then gigantea, our other warm grower and its hybrids, have done just fine.
our temps were also a bit below 55 on a qouple nights (eeks)..so i dunno....these dang plants i don't think tho that temps in the low 60s at worst are going to do in a whole group of phals. something else is afoot

so yeah, i still think nemesis that at 60 to 70, with 80% humidity, even in large bark you don't need to water every day. i am sticking to that!! ok, unless you just trickle a tiny bit thru the bark each time. how do you water your phals, if i may ask? thanks!

I grow in the house at a Southern exposure, and I water at the sink by running the water through the top at the sides of the pot.
This is East Texas so it is very humid here.

right on...did you see the fireball the other day, by any chance?! anyways, for the orchids, if it were me, i would try a couple plants watering just 2x a week, and leave the others on your regular routine. wait a few months, see if there is any difference. best of luck!!

This sounds reasonable. I will try it.
I didn’t see the fireball, but heard it was spectacular....the grandkids couldn’t stop talking about it lol!
