Two phals in one pot? Female
Default Two phals in one pot?

A friend recently gave me her phal after it finished blooming. It's actually two phals potted together. I cut back the spikes, the roots seem fine, and they are both growing new leaves. My question: would it be better to repot them into separate pots? Does it matter? Many thanks!

I would separate them. JMO. Best to do it before the roots get too entwined.

Not me. I like specimen sized plants. While I no longer have it, my best Phal was a three plant white in an 8" pot. Quite spectacular when it bloomed. But there's nothing wrong with seperating them.

I would agree with Ross IF both plants are the same. If they are different I would still separate.

Agreed. I guess I assumed the same species/cross.

Thanks, Ross and Terri--I'll have to ask my friend if they had identical blooms. My instinct is to separate them, more because I'm a novice and would hate to potentially jeopardize two plants at once! They're doing well together tho...
