I recently bought this oncidium and don't know when to repot it since winter is coming, but it's also still blooming. Because of the size I was also thinking about sepperating into 2 pots, though I've never done it before. If anyone knows what kind of oncidium this is, that would be appreciated too.
Wait to repot until new growths are forming from the base. It will be not long after the flowers fade.
This plant is too small to divide. This kind of Oncidium becomes a large plant. Don't divide unless each piece will have at least 3-4 mature pseudobulbs. It will probably take several years to flower again if you divide it now.
There are a lot of very similar hybrids, so it's impossible to give it a name. Often these hybrids are not named. Your best hope would be to ask the store to tell you othe name of the supplier, and try to trace the plant back to the grower. If you send them a photo they may be able to give you a name. It might be possible to say it looks like a particular named plant, but you would not know for sure.
Enjoy it for now. Do some reading here in the Onciidum forum, and you will have more information when it grows big enough to repot.
