Like Roberta, I use mostly clay pots for Dendrobiums, in order to get some weight at the bottom of the plant.
I currently have two Dendrobiums, which grow thick canes some 40-46" tall. I make a ring of steel wire, slightly smaller than the pot, so the pot nestles into the ring, and then I hang it with a 3-wire hanger. If the plant does not stay upright by itself, I tie a couple of canes to the hanger, that takes care of the problem.
