If you are new to orchids, why not go to one of the 'big box' stores, or even a hardware store and get an inexpensive dendrobium, cattleya, and phalaenopsis. Learn to grow and rebloom them under your care. After you get them to rebloom 2 or 3 times, then you may want to branch out to something more challenging. Also, hybrids tend to be easier to grow than the species. It would be a real shame to pay more for a special plant just to have it die from being an inexperienced grower.
