yellow stems

can someone help? im new and cut my phal stem back above node to reflower and its turned yellow-now what?:

Not all stems reflower. Sometimes they die back to the base of the plant. It should rebloom next year at the normal time.

There is a great thread here on learning to grow Phalaenopsis orchids. From the yellow left menu choose Forums then Beginners. Look near the top for the sticky thread The Phal abuse stops here. Orchids are not hard to grow but they are different from other plants.

Leave it. If it dies all the way back, cut it off. Otherwise leave it alone.

It's really personal preference. If you have a spike that is turning yellow, none of the yellow part is going to produce any more flowers. You could cut it off just above a node that is still green, if there are any, but chances are the whole thing will go yellow and dry up soon. My own habit is usually that I will wait until the entire spike is dried up to the base, then cut it off. Even then, it's not necessary but more for aesthetic reasons.
