Hello,
I am looking for some answer for this problem on my oncidium. It finished its blooming last month. And now I saw some of the new bulb got yellow at the base and one wven yellow and brownish from the top down. I am having this oncidium for like 2 years now. I haven’t seen this before.
It looks like it was healthy before, but underwatered. The pseudobulbs are wrinkled, and some of the leaves have transverse pleats. It looks like now the developing shoot is turning brown at the base. Is that correct? Is the new shoot soft at the base?
The roots look fine.

Is it a Miltoniopsis? These don’t like to get as dry as yours looks. Alternating wet and bone dry can kill new growths and pseudobulbs in these. Water when the substrate is damp/approaching dryness and try not to let it dry completely. It may also appreciate repotting into new media if you’ve had it two years. I’ve found them a bit temperamental root wise so I try to disturb them as little as possible: I rinse the root mass to dislodge any loose media but leave whatever clings alone.
