Vanda problem

I have a problem with vanda orchid. Plant leaves are yellow with some black spots. Root system seems not healthy at all. I think maybe my plant suffer from fussarium wilt. I water my plant once a week and very carefully so that water does not get between the leaves. I add some pictures. I am very happy if i can get information about my vanda problem.

What are your temperatures? Light? Fusarium is rare outside hot, humid conditions.

I agree with watering more often. Most bare-root Vandas should be watered daily, unless soaking the roots for some hours at each watering.

I put a water in glass vase and then my plant stay there about 30 minutes. Then i pour water out. I do this every week. I live in cold climate and my vanda is in room temperature. Temperature is about 20 degree celsius. At the moment we have winter. My vanda is half shade. This plant is bought in Holland. Some roots seems to be dead beacause they do not change theier color. They are brown.

Hi Kadi,
it could be Fusarium and the only remedy is butchering your plant severely.

Depending how long ago you bought it you could ask to return this plant - I would not be happy receiving a plant like this myself.

I have also seen cases that looked identical to Fusarium or what people have told me Fusarium looks like and the plant recovered by itself though!
If it is Fusarium that would be hard to save and even if you could - hardly worth it.
I always hope for the best - nobody really knows what Fusarium looks like or how to 100% identify it so as long as damage does not spread it most likely is not Fusarium..

A few dead roots is to be expected, there are still plenty of live roots there but you do need to water more than once a week.

Otherwise I would peel back the dead leaves to expose the stem to some air and inspect any damage. The damage is done now (most likely in the shop) - you just need to ensure it does not spread. If it spreads you will have to cut any infected part but just hope it doesn't spread if you do keep it.

It could be a good idea to spray an antifungal like physan 20 or something similar

I doubt fusarium... there are some YouTube videos that claim this as the source of many ills... But as ES mentioned, it is very rare outside of the tropics. It would be the last thing I would think of, not the first.

Depending on the exact parentage of your Vanda, temperature is the first thing that I would think of. And humidity. It is normal for some old roots to die, not a concern if you have some that do turn green. The other thing I would think of is lack of water - once a week is not enough water for a Vanda. They need to get wet every day... Water, pour off the water so that they dry, the next day repeat. They also require more fertilizer than most orchids. You could put dilute fertilizer (about 1/4 of whatever it says on the bottle) in that daily watering, and the plant can utilize it. But first... more water, and warm it up if you can.

I have 8 Vandas of varying size hanging from a tree in my back yard in Central Florida. Several have dark spots on the leaves and a few dead roots, but they have been like that for years. I try to water them at least every other day spraying them with a hose, and soak them on the weekend for at least an hour in a weak fertilizer solution. I think, as others have said, you probably need to water (and feed) more. You might try using a solution with seaweed to stimulate the root growth, at least that has worked for me.
