Does anybody have experience growing above the light

I kindda run out of space for new orchids and I have to get somewhat creative. By above the light, I use the floor light that face upwards. So, the light is under the orchid and the orchid gets light only from the underside of its leaves. On top of the pot itself is shadowed and the only leaves that get the light are the ones that hanging down the side of the pot. My guinea orchid is a mature Phal. Gigabell with foot long leaves. Will this cause problem especially the new leaves that will get no light at all until it’s long enough to finally hanging down.
