Phalaenopsis Fungus? - white growth, can’t identify
Hi all,
First time poster. I have looked high and low for an answer as to what is growing on my phalaenopsis stem? I have attached a picture.
It is white with a tinge of yellow, about 1/8th up starting from base at leaves. When touched, it feels dry. It can be scratched off, but it also scratches the stem.
Any advice welcome. I am a newer orchid owner and have not reached out before, but this is quickly becoming my favorite hobby. Thanks in advance!

So sorry, should I report this in the beginner’s thread? I am not sure how to move a post.

That doesn't look super concerning to me. I'm not sure it's fungus. Watch it and if it spreads you may have a problem, but it may not spread. If you are really worried and want to be proactive, you can treat it with Physan 20, with is a good everything-cide. Even if it's nothing, treating the plant with it won't hurt anything.

What it there before? Is it spreading?
If it's dry, then it should be just fine to leave it there.

jocelynflower, I have deleted your duplicate thread, and moved this one to the beginner forum for you. Threads can't be moved once they are posted, and you can either contact a moderator to move it for you, or moderators move things when they notice it's in the wrong place.
