Assuming these are roots, what should I do with them?

That does not track at all with my experience. Clear pots do let roots photosynthesize, and it's easy to see their condition and assess watering needs. Roots tend to go to the outside of the pot (clear or not)... they're seeking air, not light, and the center of the pot tends to be damp and deficient in air. With wood baskets, I have found the hybrids don't care, the species treat the baskets as mounts and attach to the wood, and often then turn right back into the medium (wrapping around the wood slats). Or hang straight down. (Water flows downhill... if they hang downwards, the water flows over them. Opposite of direction of light... they like water. Efficient behavior if you're growing on a tree.) Aerial roots are just part of what Phals do naturally. We should not be so quick to impose our aesthetic views on a pattern that has evolved over millions of years. As long as the medium in the pot is good, and roots inside are in good condition, the plant is just doing its thing.

I use clear plastic pots exclusively for all of my Phals. I prefer the ones that have not only holes on the bottom but also slots on the sides. Roots come freely out the bottom and also manage to snake their way through those little side slots, too. It's why I end up having to cut the pot off when I repot. But I do like being able to see the roots, and also knowing that some of the roots are receiving direct light that way, too.

So I may not understand the whys of it, but in my experience, Phal roots just like to grow and expand outward in all directions, up, down, and sideways, and I don't mind a bit.

I got the pole as a gift from my neighbor who got it for me at an orchid show. She has a tree in her yard with like 50-70 orchids hanging off it and several of these... I asked her about it and she got me one! Amazing neighbor

It was about $30 and came with the five pots. It’s awesome. Sorry I can’t help you out more
