Default I won a Coryanthes...and I have no idea what to do with it!!

Okay so chalk this one up to my being a dork, and ordering a pretty and unique looking plant and having no idea what the hell to do with it!!!

I know that this one is going to be a lot like my stanhopea plant (I Think), and is going to require higher humidity.

I was thinking a 10-15 gallon fish tank with a top on it, to up the humidity. Seems to have worked with my betta bowl. But this plant is WAY to tall lol. 8 pseudobulbs and 13 inches high.

I would love love love any suggestions on this plant since I almost killed my other stanhopea plant.

Will attach the photos from ebay.

thanks, I kind of got excited when I found out how it pollinates its becomes pollinated. With the trapping of the bugs and then them having to pull themselves out it seems very intriguing!! Plus the picture of what it should look like is very pretty can't say that did not catch my eye as well.

I have two of these kinds of orchid plant but it’s a near blooming size that might give me flowers next year.

Here is Charles and Margaret Baker’s culture:

So bud what do you grow yours in? I have the basket. and will be getting the aquarium for the humidity during the winter.

Any other suggestions you may have would be great.

That is a cool plant. I have two vanillas which need high humidity for their aerial roots. I'm lucky that I have a little jungle that seems to make them quite happy. I think what most people do is to buy a mister/humidifier. Or, what I am doing for the plants on shelves that aren't surrounded by my little jungle is to cover the shelf with a clear plastic drop cloth (found in the painting section) which keeps everything nice and humid. Good luck!

Maybe a misting system?
Perhaps you could make/find a frame and cover it with a clear plastic drop cloth and hang your new orchid from the frame. On the floor, lay an old towel in a pan of water. The towel will soak up water and release it into the air. The plastic will keep the humidity close to the orchid...a mini greenhouse. Just an idea. I grow my haraella in a plastic cube to make it happy...mini greenhouse.

That is my goal with the fish tank and topper, the light from the topper will create the minimum light/higher humidity needed while also keeping it warmer than most of the surrounding area in the house.
