That is sucky, it looked like it was going to be a nice display. I'd agree with RJ to look at the heater/humidity robber as a culprit. In the winter, I keep my stuff in plastic tubs in wire stacks to "try" to keep an ok micro climate. The trouble for me is when they start spiking, I move them to enjoy them. Right now I have a red fantasy with terrible bud blast because of where I moved it.
Hope you figure it out (but sometimes theres no one thing or an obvious reason).

Too much water at the wrong time. Orchids normally bloom in the dry season. Brassovolas are a little different but not much. Also could have been temperature changes. Warm day and cold water or a draught after they were watered causing evaporative cooling.

I have 5 blc magic of mishima volcano queen and three blasted while two bloomed beautifully this fall. Why? The two that flowered weren't watered. The three that did blast/rot were watered. (James shrugs shoulders). Hmmmm.

I am sorry they blasted on you. It is a rather annoying and saddening to get bud rot/bud blast after working so hard to get them to spike in the first place.

I feel your pain, Kindra! My rhynchostylis that was about to open got a nice, long shot of cool Michigan air and all my buds blasted.
I'm sorry about your buds!

Thank you! I hate when buds blast, especially right before they're about to open. You wait so long and the reward is...nada!!
