It's either a second spike or the start of a root, not sure yet it's still to small to tell for certain. I'll definatly be posting pictures when it blooms. It's been fun to see how it's grown and nice to be able to share it's progress with so many people.
If you mean the growth pointing downwards directly facing the camera, that one is a root. My orchids grow those many times, but the one growing upwards, to the right of the root is a spike it looks like. I'm almost 100% sure that is a spike because spikes emerge from in between the leaves, whereas roots usually emerge from the sides of the plant body. You must be excited!
It's finally started blooming!!! The spike is a good sized one and it has two branches on it. So I'll have lots of flowers this time around. (sorry that the picture is sitting on its side, had to take it that way to get the entire spike)
