Ascocendas and mini-catts or compact cattleyas. Mostly because both bloom more often than other orchids but also because of the bright colors that I like.

Maria wanted suggestions for giants. Cym madidum can easily get to be 2' - 3' tall. .... Cym tracyanum is definitely a very large Cymbidium species. These can easily reach 3' tall.
I have a collection of madidums and one has leaves no longer than 12" with bulbs the size of a bantam chicken egg. Two of the others have bulbs at least twice the size of an average tracyanum with leaves to match!
It is interesting that there appears to be more variety in the size of madidums than in most other Cym species.
