Phal spike tip off color and at a stand still? Female
Question Phal spike tip off color and at a stand still?

I am the proud mother of my first spiking phal, and up until a few days ago, all was well. Not sure if that's the case now, as I noticed that the very tip is not the color I'd like it to be. First off I noticed that it looked ill, sort of browing, so I took a q-tip with some phyton 27 (diluted of course) and treated it with that. That seemed to help, but now, it's not as bright green as it should be. The spike is about 6" tall. All my orchids are all really healthy looking, and I have no sign of bugs or diseases. New roots, new leaves. Is this normal for a phal?

Do you have a pic you could share? I ask because most of my phal spikes aren't green at all, they're more brown and are from the time they're about one inch long. Perhaps it's normal for that plant? Did you get anything off with the q-tip?

I agree, a photo would be very helpful. Depending on the Phal, the spike may not be entirely green.
