No, there is the upgrade price. 4.0 was included in my annual upgrade...I paid $80 last year for the next year of upgrades. It is the most economical way to go if you want to stay current with awards and taxonomy changes. It is not necessary to upgrade each time if that isn't important to you.
The initial price of OW is certainly higher than the other programs, but the price is based on some significant upgrades and additions. The Charles Baker stuff alone cost a pretty penny I'd imagine.
Despite the higher pricetag, it is such user-friendly software. I'd use it even if I wasn't in the judging program--and can't imagine being a student without it.
eAQ has the awards photos, but OW has the software. Neither program requires you to get the updates to operate--a big bonus over WC.
