New babies in the house

Yesterday, I went to Ya Li' orchids greenhouse. I spent nearly 2 hours with my girlfriend, talking with Roch about orchids. After quite a bit of deliberation between me and my girlfriend, we finally made our choices.

We chose 7 orchids, and he gave us 3 mini's. I think we made good beginner choices, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Great selections! You must be thrilled with the haul. The big orchid at the back must be Sharry baby. When it blooms, it's going to fill the room with sweet scent.

Wow, you guys had a good time! All great selections but the P. hieroglyphica really should be with me!!! LOL

If you know that Dendrobium nobile has a winter dormancy you're good to go. They're fragrant.

Dendrobium amethystoglossum is a large plant as an adult and gets to be about 3 ft tall.

Bulbophyllum mandibulare is not commonly sold so you got a good one there.

Cattleya aurantiaca is a staple beginner's Cattleya species.

Epidendrum radicans is one of the reed stem Epidendrums and should be pretty simple to grow.

Phalaenopsis heiroglyphica is not a commonly sold plant either. If you've had problems with Phals before, this one might be a bit difficult. Species Phals tend to have thinner roots and require a bit more humidity and moisture. I do not recommend growing them potted in moss.

Oncidium Sharry Baby is a pretty standard Onc hybrid. Shouldn't be overly difficult to grow. Smells like chocolate.

The Paph you have should be pretty easy to grow and bloom.

Don't know about the Phrag, but Phrags in general like lots of water.

Altogether not too bad a haul.

Watch out for some of the plants you listed, they appear to be way over potted. Especially those tiny ones.

I think what you are calling Phrag Coneniferum is probably Phrag conchiferum, a phrag species. It has been crossed with Phrag Barbara LeAnn and the result is called Phragmipedium Payten Lang.

They are Adidas training shoes.

This night, I'll have some time for the plants, what are the best candidates for Semi hydroponics? I think the epidendrum will go straight into it. What about the others?
