Bare Root Bulbophyllums
Dear Friend, bought some bare rooted plants, but their condition is not good, some are slowly dying, I need some information to make them healthy.
what is the best medium for them?, how much humidity they need and what more i do for them

First suggestion is to wrap sphagnum moss around all these roots. Once they're established on the mounts and have been fed regularly, they should start to react and begin growing. They grow best in warm, humid conditions and filtered light...no direct light on these. Keep them on the wet side but let them dry (not completely though) between watering. Fertilize, year round.

True enough Brooke, but I doubt they'd do that well in Karachi, so I went with advice on the warm growers.

What great looking pots! I'm learning to grow the bulbs also, so I don't have any advice, but wanted to comment on your homemade pots. ![Smile](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/smile.gif)

I had some bulbos with the same condition. Used sphag and bag to bring them back to health. Like the other posters said, warm, humid and shady.

From my personal experience they don't do well when potted or mounted. Bulbo need to be potted up in a very shallow saucer with spagh. I usually buy the plastic saucers for pots drill some holes in the bottom put a layer of spagh then your bulbo and more spagh on top. You can secure with a pot clip that you use for other orchids. Keep warm, moist, (never let dry completely) and fert. like you do your other orchids. I've had great success with mine. I would also cut out the "brown" pseudo bulbs with no leaves. Bulbos have a habit of creeping out to the side like a vine might so you should plant more or less in the middle. Good luck with yours and keep us informed of progress.

Hi
Do you make those pots yourself or buy them like that? If you make them, I'd love to know how to do it...please ![Nod](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/nod.gif)
