I watched a video of a guy who makes wonderful resin inlaid tables to order. As these are very expensive its in his interest to photograph them to their best advantage.
This technique produces great images.

howdy,
i know this is a late reponse, but see if you can get a polarizing filter for your lens. most have threads but also a turnable front glass so you can change the angle of polarization. like all camera gear, ones worth getting are a bit pricey, and it's worth knowing some of the specs of these filters as there are different degrees of polarization and such and not all can rotate freely.

this will also accentuate certain colors depending on your angle, so be aware of that if you get one. but yeah, with one of those on, as you turn it you can literally see the glare reducing and then growing. some types of glare are reduced more, such a off water. but i use one for my flower pics and by changing your physical poition in combo with turning the polarizer, it can reduce glare quite a bit. color changes are a bit harder for me to notice thru the opticall viewfinder.
