Totally agree. I hardly ever buy a plant in spike on purpose but sometimes they just show up, right?

Mine blasted buds all along one of its spikes, and that was early on before I'd had a chance to abuse it too much. Our spikes were developing in a different home (Marlow). I think the journey to their new homes and adjusting to new environments is enough to stress them a little.

OMG. You couldn't post enough pictures of that beauty! I envy your podangis and your camera lens!! Gorgeous.
Also, I think of you and Roberta as charter members of the podangis envy club. You both had the foresight to purchase podangae/ises way ahead of the curve.
