Default Who needs curtains?

I wanted to share some of my growing spaces with everyone. I wasn't sure where to put it since most aren't displays per se. I decided to put it here since most grow in windows. My views look vastly different than they did six months ago... and I like it!

First, the bedroom. I recently took the AC out and brought the outdoor guys in and move others around and this is how it's looking.

My bathroom, unfortunately, is one of the best spots for the sun lovers (the bedroom being the other). I say unfortunately because the toilet is right next to the window and my boyfriend insists on a curtain. He doesn't seem to believe that I can pack enough orchids in to block the outside view in.

My desk is next, I think I have a lovely view

Then the kitchen/top of the stairs. I guess this is mostly under lights, but still in a window... It counts!

Finally, I have been experimenting with mounting... primarily making it look more artistic, and what better plant than a Neo. falcata? It is currently sharing the spot with some Masdies I just received from Ecuagenera that may make a permanent move there... haven't made up my mind yet.
Neos primary digs on my bar turned bookshelf

I am working on rearranging some plants. In the future, I am going to try some medium light mounted plants in the sky lights. There are some there now, but it's hard to get a good picture... the light coming through the window washes everything else out.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed!

Wow! Everything is so nice and neat! My plants always look like a crazy jungle when they come inside...including the orchids. I really love your set-ups!

This reminds me that I am soon going to be hauling in all my plants and arranging them to their designating spaces (always a stressful endeavor). I already brought in a few but they are not in their winter space, yet, as it is too warm to turn on the lights for me (it is 88'F today!). I probably will cover most of the plants at night while it is still in the seventies/daytime and fifties/nighttime.

That is really great! You could probably hire yourself out as an orchid arranger!

Thanks guys! I keep fiddling with things to maximize plant happiness. I think it only looks so neat and orderly because I don't have enough plants...

I have to say, the secret to my neatness thus far are these suction cup shelves called Veg Ledge that I have gotten off of Amazon. They hold up to 10lb, and usually can fit three good sized plants. They are pricey, but I have one of those Amazon points cards and use all my points to either get them (or some orchids, it's great Andy's is on Amazon!) for free!

I'm also trying out something new with garden chain. I hung it vertically down the right side of the window, which allows me to hang multiple mounts on it. The one in the bedroom has a Sediera japonica, Den. loddigesii and a Tolumnia Pink Panther hanging on it.

I wish orchids were more popular in my area, I would definitely consider offering a service as a side job!

Such nice setups. I really like them and I love your mount. Andy's prime shipping?

Thanks, No-pro! I spend a long time figure out how I was going to do that mount. I couldn't find a piece of wood I liked. Then I visited my parents in VT and they had a big brush pile of juniper, which is a relative of cedar, so I cut some branches and brought them home. I ordered some slate tiles from HD, drilled a hole in the bottom of one and in the bottom of that branch, put a screw through and voila! I had the Neo mount I was trying to create for what seems like forever. I have a few more to make. I like them even without orchids

I should clarify, I have the Amazon credit card from Chase that earns point with ever dollar spent. Each point equals a penny. I get somethings like one point per dollar at grocery stores, two per dollar at gas stations and three per dollar on Amazon. The card has terrible interest rates, but I pay it off every month so as to avoid paying interest. I basically just get free money for money I was spending anyway. I wouldn't use it otherwise, since the interest is pretty terrible. You can use your prime benefits with the card - I get two day shipping on almost everything I buy.

Andy's does not qualify for prime since he's just a third party seller on there. His shipping is $5.99 flat for all the plants he lists there- you do have to pay it for every plant bought, though. He only ships on certain days and mine usually come three days via FedEx. I've never waited more than a week... which I don't mind especially if I am getting free plants!

I want to apologize if I sound like an Amazon commercial . I buy most stuff there since my nearest Walmart/HD/anything is 30min away. It makes living in the sticks more appealing .

No apologies necessary. We live rural but are close to everything, however, since we now have chip cards, every transaction takes longer. There is a Meijer here (you may not have them out east) and I love to shop there but quit going (except off hours) because I cannot get in and out. Like you, I use Amazon a lot...especially while I was working on my Masters! I had a corner on used books.

o_O Those are fantastic ideas! I think I'll be placing an order at Amazon soon, those shelves look amazing, and I have two south-facing kitchen windows that could definitely use more plants, but I've been stalling on how to best install more shelving . . .

Kool setups. I wish my bathroom had natural light from a window or something. The Bathrooms is probably a very ideal growing space. Always humid.
