Now I am hoping for this to be a black beauty- please become a nice flower
Hard to take picture, camera keeps trying to adjust, its so black. Hoping for a black and violet one. Lol- I assume I will love it no matter how it ends looking.

Its growing (with flash, its just one black blur if not)
Catasetum is growing aswell.
I have these in the bowl for two reasons- one is that it secure the pot from tilting over. (I have it stuck under the wood-thing), and the second is that I can fill the glassbowl with water if its really hot. Either just a little bit to keep the humidity a tad higher (doesnt affect the humidity that much though), or a bit more if I'm out and want to make sure they are staying moist.
The mix: moss in the bottom, some gravel, moss, gravel, moss and some bark at the top. (Can use gravel at the top aswell). Keeps them wet a bit longer, and it keeps the bottom of the bulb dry. I want to water the rotts, and not the bulb. Especially when keeping them moist over time- bulbs can rot, I dont like taking chances.
This is the biggest one. I keep that in a pot just like the others, but put the whole thing in this 'dummy' glasscontainer. Both to let the roots escape if they want to, but mostly because of display. I imagine the flowers will look nice in this one.
You can see the pot in this picture
I use different pots, and different mix for different plants. I can chit-chat about that another day😜
(Never mind the unhappy aloe vera plant, working on it…)

It's dark. Like a black swan, so gracious.
But its hard taking a picture of it.
Its pink/purple-ish and dark I think. I've seen different pictures, I'm hoping this one will turn out nice. I know what I'm hoping for, but also know mixes like this can turn out really different from eachother. That kinda makes it even more fun watching it grow. Like unwrapping something really slow. Orchids teach me to have patience.
Pictures from today
Starting to see the purple inside
With light you see it better (not irl, darker than on photo)
Its really difficult taking pictures. (And I'm using my phone ) This was on saturday, seems to grow a tiny bit faster now.

Yeah, and I think my hubby is discovering I'm turning the dining place into a gh😜
I took the curtains away. I said we dont need them. He did notice though😂 (he said we needed them, but we never use them anyway. Gonna wait and see if he forgets about them.) Besides, I shaded the windows. He was okay with that. He likes them- the plants, they are growing on him😉
I move them sometimes. Some have their places, like the paphs-pretty shaded place. Same goes for bulbos. The others are moved around. Today the catasetum are enjoying some sun. (Yeah, I move the benches around aswell)
And the animal, curious cat- have to check when I move them.

Will make a thread in the paphiopedilum later. Waiting a couple days more to see if it opens more.
I like the color
With flash- the color shows when its sunny, if its not sunny its darker than the above pictures.

lovely paph, Helene....and yes, you really don't need those dining room curtains....who is going to peep in while you are eating anyway?....I couldn't help but notice that nice brick patio beyond those nice windows...French doors? it would be a very nice spot for a greenhouse.....not meaning to deprive your husband of his dining room or patio, lol....but it would be lovely to go out into the greenhouse and play with your plants...and put a chair in there for him to sit and watch you....much nicer than a boring patio...imo...LMAO!
