Default Blue Summer in Toronto Loft
It's the first summer I have so many blue orchids in bloom from window growing in my loft!!!

You do have quite a bit blooming right now! I am not sure if I will ever be able to consider 'blue' orchids to be truly blue but they are all very beautiful. I just have the one 'blue' orchid right now and I must admit, the coloring is really quite delightful.

It's true about 'blue' orchids are not really blue (more like different shades of grey lavender) except for a few species, like the Cleisocentron gokungsii below that has true blue tones.



Other species that have true blue pigments are Vanda coerulescence and Dendrobium leukocyanum.

Most other 'blue' orchids like Dendrobium victoria-reginae, Vanda coerulea, and various coerulea cattleya varieties are in shades of grey lavender and not visually blue.

The genus Thelymitra sets the gold standard for blue orchids.
